OPRAH DAILY AND OPRAH’S FAVORITE THINGS
Campaigns, Brand Identity, Art Direction, Social Strategy, Graphic Design, Illustration, Editorial Design
At Hearst's Oprah Daily (formerly O, The Oprah Magazine), I helped shape the brand's evolving visual identity and expand its digital presence. From refreshing the brand's design system to developing creative for major campaigns like Oprah's Favorite Things and The Life You Want, I helped bring the brand's storytelling to life across digital, social, and print.
I also played a key role in transforming Oprah Daily's social presence, developing a more engaging, cohesive social strategy that grew our Instagram audience by 1.3 million followers, increased engagement and subscriptions, and strengthened the brand's digital identity.
Oprah’s Favorite Things 2021 & 2022
For Oprah's Favorite Things 2021 and 2022, I helped develop the visual identity for one of the brand's most anticipated annual campaigns. From color palettes and graphic treatments to social strategy and design templates, I created a cohesive visual world that extended across web, social, and print.
OFT: Brand Identity
I helped lead the creative direction for the campaign, drawing inspiration from the playful shapes of Christmas ornaments and the colorful, eclectic nature of a decorated tree. I wanted to create a distinct visual language that felt festive without relying on traditional Christmas colors, so I developed an expanded palette that felt more inclusive of the holiday season. To balance the playful shapes and vibrant colors, I incorporated bold color blocking and monochromatic treatments, keeping the overall identity cohesive, polished, and visually engaging.
OFT: Digital and Print
I created a range of custom graphics and editorial artwork that brought the campaign's visual identity to life across digital and print. From editorial lead images and table of contents icons to branded templates and livestream graphics, each element carried the campaign's playful, cohesive visual language across platforms.
OFT: Social Strategy and Design
I created the social strategy and Instagram story designs for Oprah’s Favorite Things, with the goal of driving engagement and getting our audience familiar with the gift items. Through curated gift guides and interactive “this or that” games on Instagram Stories, we drove significant traffic to the Oprah Daily site and boosted our commission-based sales. The success of the OFT social campaign in 2021 led to continued rollouts in 2022 and 2023.
Social Strategy and Design
After recognizing a gap in our social presence, my role shifted to focus on developing Oprah Daily's Instagram strategy and elevating its visual identity. I introduced new content formats, branded templates, original illustrations, and video content to bring editorial stories to life on social, increase engagement, and drive digital subscriptions.
Within one year, I helped grow our Instagram following by 1.3 million, contributing to one of the largest year-over-year follower increases across all Hearst brands. Our strategy also positioned Oprah Daily as one of the most engaged brands in Hearst's portfolio for multiple consecutive months.
The Life You Want Series: Menopause
The Life You Want is a monthly digital series from Oprah Daily that features conversations with experts on topics like joy, resilience, connection, and more—designed to help our audience live with greater intention.
For each month’s theme, I created a social strategy and suite of designs to bring the conversation to life on Instagram. My goal was to make the content feel approachable and compelling, encouraging followers to engage and head to our site for the full experience. For the series on Menopause, I designed feed posts and interactive Stories with quizzes, polls, and thought-starters—sparking conversation and reframing menopause with empathy, education, and empowerment.
Editorial Design
I created editorial artwork for Oprah Daily's digital and print publications, bringing stories to life through original illustrations, photo collages, and creative art treatments. From lead imagery to homepage features, each visual was thoughtfully developed to capture the personality of the story and make a compelling first impression. I also developed graphic treatments and visual identities for recurring editorial series and campaigns.
